Royal Worcester Blush Ivory Orientalist Figures Of Cairo Water Carriers By James Hadley, 1901

Artist: Royal Worcester

An elegant matching pair of antique Royal Worcester Blush Ivory porcelain figures, modelled by James Hadley and produced in 1901 and 1902. Depicting a male and female Egyptian water carrier with traditional water vessels, the composition reflects the Orientalist taste that inspired some of Royal Worcester's most celebrated sculptural designs.

The refined satin ivory finish is enhanced by delicate apricot shading and richly applied Raised Gold decoration. Built up in relief, the ornament was finished with 24-karat gold and carefully hand burnished, creating the distinctive three-dimensional effect associated with the factory's finest work. Both figures retain their original Royal Worcester factory marks together with the impressed shape number 1250 and the original British Registration design number.

Complete original pairs are increasingly difficult to obtain and remain highly sought after by collectors of important English porcelain.
