The bowl is hand-painted with dragons and mythical beasts, each setwithin its own compartment, separated by ornate borders. The pattern isinspired by Chinese Kangxi porcelain. The center displays a chrysanthemum, asymbol of longevity. The color palette includes iron-red, cobalt blue, puce,pale green, yellow and gilt. The exterior painting is crisp and fresh, withexcellent preservation of both enamels and gilding.
The factory mark "Chamberlain’s Worcester" is carefullyhand-written in iron-red. The precision of the script suggests a prestigiouscommission, possibly for an aristocratic client.
The originalheavy wooden stand, carved from solid mahogany, is included and in excellentcondition. Its deep reddish tone and solid construction are typical of qualityearly 19th-century English woodwork.
Bowls of this pattern and size, with their original stand and periodfactory mark (even partially worn), are rarely offered. This bowl ranks amongthe best surviving examples of early 19th-century English porcelain and iscomparable to pieces in the Victoria & Albert Museum.
