A distinguished pair of large Royal Worcester Egyptian musicians modelled by James Hadley and dated 1893. The tall, elegant forms create a strong interior presence, closer to sculptural accents than decorative porcelain. One figure plays a lute-like instrument; the companion raises a tambourine in a quiet rhythmic gesture.
Both are incised “Hadley” on the base and carry Worcester printed marks, the Registered Design number and the shared model number 1084. The calm faces, warm ivory palette and soft modelling exemplify Worcester’s finest late nineteenth-century output.
