"Wedgwood Lustre Set Of Three Miniature Bowls By Daisy Makeig-jones, C.1915."
An exceptionally rare set of three Wedgwood lustre
miniature bowls, designed by Daisy Makeig-Jones in the early 20th century.
Pattern Z4825 has an Orange Lustre exterior with crystal mottling, a
Mother-of-Pearl interior, and a gilded Eastern mythical beast at centre.
Pattern Z4829 features a Blue Lustre exterior, Mother-of-Pearl interior and
gilt tortoise motif with enamelled shell. Pattern Z4831 has a deep blue lustre
exterior and a similarly executed gilt tortoise.
All three pieces measure 9.5 cm across and 2.8 cm high - perfect for
serving nuts, chocolates, or as decorative ring dishes. These compact forms
were far less common than larger Wedgwood lustre bowls, and finding three with
distinct but harmonious designs is unusual. The pieces are
perfect for collectors of Makeig-Jones lustreware and represent a rare
opportunity to acquire three complementary designs in outstanding preservation.
Condition: Excellent antique condition.
Reflections in images are due to the lustre glaze, not
defects.
