Central Italy - 17th Century - Wrought-iron Candle Snuffer
A beautiful wrought-iron candle snuffer with handles bent during forging and a container for collecting the so-called “moccolo.”
Used until relatively recent times to extinguish candles by collecting the last drops of wax, these objects are quite common, though this particular piece stands out for its rustic design and excellent condition: the patina and signs of wear lend it a charming and authentic character.
Simple and beautiful in both form and craftsmanship, it is an excellent collector’s item.
