17th Century - Liguria - Ebonized Wooden Coin Cabinet With Bone Inlays
A splendid coin cabinet made of ebonized wood with bone inlays.
Liguria, early 17th century.
The two doors feature bone inlays depicting an oval shield coat of arms with a cartouche frame belonging to a nobleman of the “tre razze” family.
The coat of arms is surrounded by a charming square frame, also made of bone, engraved with plant motifs.
Inside the two doors is a space divided into two horizontal shelves.
Below the two doors, the two drawers feature four bone plaques engraved with rural scenes.
The piece is in good condition, with some putty work and restoration.
The hinges and latch on the left door are original, while the key and lock date from the 19th century.
