18th Century - Painted And Gilded Wood - Crown
A magnificent wooden crown, carved, engraved, painted, and gilded, dating from the second half of the 18th century.
The band and the eight points of the crown are carved, engraved, and embellished with gemstones carved from wood.
These are painted to resemble precious stones (rubies, sapphires, emeralds).
The crown is slightly smaller than a standard size, but it is highly adaptable thanks to the way it is secured—namely, by a pin connecting the headpiece to the crown, which rests on the head without needing to be adjusted.
In any case, this is a standalone work of art; in fact, it comes complete with a Plexiglas stand so that it can be displayed as is.
A lavish yet tasteful piece, in excellent condition except for a few patches of glitter paint that can be easily removed.
