17th Century - Venice - Inlaid Box Made Of Walnut Burl And Ebony
An extraordinary Venetian chest from the mid-17th century, made of walnut veneer with ebony inlays and wrought-iron decorations.
The piece, which features extraordinary wood grain and coloration, complemented by wrought-iron inlays, remarkably retains its original interior lining of silk embroidered with silver thread, which is in excellent condition.
The forged feet are original, as are the lock and hinges.
It features its original wrought-iron handle.
An exceptional and one-of-a-kind piece, given the state of preservation of its original interior.
Precious yet understated, the refinement of this piece is further accentuated by the walnut veneer, which lends a rustic touch to its overflowing elegance.
The cord that secures the lid has been replaced.
