Royal Worcester “the Breezes” Porcelain Figures By James Hadley, C. 1865–1878
A highly decorative pair of Victorian Royal Worcester porcelain figures from the celebrated “The Breezes” series, modelled by James Hadley and dating to the earliest phase of production.
The composition captures two female figures interacting with the wind through flowing drapery and graceful movement. The cream-glazed finish gives the pair a softer and more sophisticated appearance than later white versions and is considered the rarest colour variation encountered.
A particularly attractive detail is the small black button accent, which provides a refined contrast against the warm cream porcelain and enhances the visual balance of the design.
The figures possess excellent sculptural presence and demonstrate Hadley's mastery of movement and modelling. They function equally well as collector's pieces and as sophisticated decorative objects within traditional or contemporary interiors.
