Superb, large 19 th century satchel from Persia. The object is remarkable from every point of view.
First of all, the quality of the hand-spun wool and the finesse of the weaving.
On the front, of course, embellished with small embroidered motifs, stars and an eye to ward off the evil eye.
And on the back too, where you can really appreciate the weaver's dexterity, infinite precision and meticulous weaving regularity! On the back, too, we're literally in awe of the aquatically pure hues. Vegetal hues, of course, in perfect harmony, a succession of juxtaposed horizontal bands contrasting with ecru, almost white, tasty parts.
