Reliquary In Gilded Bronze With Relic Of Saint André-hubert Fournet, Authentic From 1928
Gilt bronze reliquary with relic of Saint André-Hubert Fournet, authentic from 1928 - France - Sanctuaire de Notre Dame de Bétharram
Fine-molded and chased gilt bronze devotional reliquary, with a moving form, adorned with a rich rocaille decoration populated with cherubs' heads and surmounted by a cross.
High-quality work, probably late 19th century.
In the center, under curved glass, is presented an important bone relic (ex ossibus), held in place by silk threads. The relic is set against a light textile background, according to a traditional mounting.
The reverse is carefully closed with a pleated textile mount, crossed with silk threads and sealed with an antique wax seal, guaranteeing the integrity of the reliquary.
The set is accompanied by its authentic Latin manuscript and print, dated 1928, issued by the Postulator Generalis of the Congregation of the Sacred Heart of Betharram.
The document explicitly mentions: "Ex ossibus Sancti Andreae Huberti Fournet"
Saint André-Hubert Fournet (1752-1834), French priest, founder of the Daughters of the Cross, canonized in 1933.
