Reliquary with radiant decoration containing 19 relics, including a relic of the True Cross - late 18th century
Rare oval-shaped devotional reliquary in gilded metal, with suspension system, presenting under glass a particularly careful composition of nineteen relics arranged in a central cross and peripheral crown.
Description
In the low center mounted under a green background a relic of the True Cross (Ex Ligno Crucis), framed by a radiating decoration of gilded wires.
Around, eighteen circular and almond-shaped logettes, on colored red and green backgrounds, contain various relics (bony and contact), each arranged with a care typical of conventual work.
The set is presented on a finely striated textile background, with gilded filigree decoration forming a central radiating cross, characteristic of late 18th-century devout productions.
The reverse is closed by a plate, held in place by crossed silk threads and an intact red ecclesiastical wax seal, guaranteeing the reliquary's ancient integrity.
Condition: good state of preservation; slight wear to glass and internal mounting, consistent with age; seal intact
