This important 19th-century reliquary frame presents a particularly rich devotional composition, centered on an image of the Virgin and Child in a finely crafted oval mount.
The delicate and luminous Marian scene is surrounded by a spectacular decoration of gilded paper filigree forming exquisitely detailed architectural scrolls, typical of convent work.
Description:
The whole rests on a deep red velvet background that highlights a remarkable abundance of relics arranged in a crown around the central scene. Each relic is presented in a glazed medallion with a handwritten inscription.
A variety of saints, martyrs, confessors, and devotional figures are depicted, attesting to a dense and carefully organized spiritual program. The small, old handwritten note preserved on the reverse mentions a significant number of relics—approximately twenty-one—making this piece a particularly generous and sought-after reliquary collection.
The presence of numerous ornamental mounts, colored cabochons, and decorative elements accentuates the precious and ceremonial character of the composition.
The carved and gilded wooden frame, with its flowing decoration, completes the whole with strength and elegance.
The quality of execution, the iconographic density, and the profusion of relics make it a high-level work of domestic devotion, intended to impress as much as to inspire.
Frame dimensions: Height: 62 cm x Width: 52 cm.

Very good overall condition with wear consistent with age. A rare piece due to its richness and presence.
