Large Impressionist Canvas 1949 - Russian School - Young Woman Textile Worker - Signed?
Artist: Signature ?
A large and beautiful Impressionist canvas dated 1949 depicting a charming portrait of a young female factory worker in a textile mill. The work is signed in the lower right corner, but the signature is difficult to decipher as it appears to be in Cyrillic script, the Russian alphabet. Indeed, the reverse of the canvas bears a CCCP customs stamp, indicating a stamp from the former Soviet Union. This suggests the artist could be from Russia, but also from another country within the former USSR that used the Cyrillic alphabet. Let us mention, for example, Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Belarus, Ukraine, Bosnia and even Kazakhstan... note: apart from the question of attribution, it seems evident that we are in the presence of an artist with an "excellent hand" as they say in the jargon of experts and art dealers... Indeed, despite the machinery that can be seen in the background, it is all the charm and beauty of this modest worker that illuminates this composition: we notice that she is wearing a work medal, very significant of the Soviet period as it rewarded the many women who worked after the war in industry and agriculture... it is therefore possible that this is an official painter, most of whom had a solid artistic training, and very often today a very good value on the art market and among collectors / advice to those interested in research.
