"édouard Febvre 1885-1967 - Large Impressionist Bouquet Of Flowers - The Only Known One By The Artist"
A large and beautiful Impressionist painting dated August 11, 1943, depicting a luminous and rare still life with a bouquet of flowers, as it is the only known work by this artist, unless I am mistaken. The work is signed by the painter Édouard Febvre (1885-1967), to whom the Bénézit dictionary devotes a significant chapter. He is a painter well-known to collectors, belonging to the same generation of artists as Maurice Utrillo (1883-1955) and Élisée Maclet (1881-1962). Like them, his paintings most often depict life in the working-class neighborhoods of Paris, those of Montmartre and the Parisian suburbs, the inner suburbs, and the "Zone." His figures are generally of modest means and reflect the world of laborers, Roma, street performers, and sometimes even simple tramps. Values and auction results: this is exactly the kind of artist to collect. "Without breaking the bank," because the quality of his paintings is undeniable and his work has remained quite affordable compared to some artists of his generation: his record of over €4,700 was achieved in 1998 for a canvas depicting "a view of Parc Monceau," and among his other results are more than thirty paintings sold between €1,000 and €3,800 /Source: Art Price. - Ask me for more photos if needed - Panel size (Masonite): 57 cm x 41 cm Frame (recent): 64 cm x 48 cm - Note that I will be offering about ten works by this artist in the coming days -
