Extremely Rare Monstrance - Reliquary. Fire-gilt copper; glass; rock crystal or glass appliqués. Monstrance with a strictly vertical structure resting on a circular base, extended by a baluster stem and a central cylindrical body of blown glass, held by openwork mounts of gilt copper. The cylinder contains several relics, including bone and textile fragments, accompanied by small handwritten labels (S. Illuminat mar, Paulus, S. Magni.), in accordance with the practices of authenticating and identifying relics at the end of the Middle Ages. The upper part consists of a tall conical lid, surmounted by a cross adorned with transparent elements, probably of rock crystal. Provenance: probably former ecclesiastical treasury, Central Europe, 15th century. Good condition with wear and alterations (old restoration in the 20th century?) from age and use.
