Relic Of Blessed Margaret Mary Alacoque With Authentic, Venice, 1881
Golden copper oval reliquary capsule (Theca), approx. 3 × 2.3 cm, containing a relic of Blessed Marguerite-Marie Alacoque ("S.ta M. M. Alacoque"), presented under glass. The relic is set against a red silk background and framed by a fine gold border. The reverse side retains its original ecclesiastical seal and fastenings. Accompanied by its original ecclesiastical seal in Latin, issued in Venice on September 19, 1881 under the authority of Patriarch Joseph Aloisius Trevisanato. Document with printed coat of arms, handwritten inscriptions, signatures and embossed seal.
Blessed Marguerite-Marie Alacoque (1647-1690), a nun of the Visitation Order, is considered the principal promoter of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The authentication was issued in 1881, before her canonization in 1920, and thus testifies to her status as a Blessed at that time.
