Illuminated Page From A Book Of Hours On Parchment – Paris, Early 16th Century.

A very beautiful double-sided leaf from a Book of Hours printed in Latin, Paris, early 16th century (circa 1500–1525). The text printed in Gothic type, richly decorated with wood-engraved borders,illuminated initials, and a remarkable religious scene enhanced with hand-applied color depicting the Risen Christ.
Theverso features a text from the Office of the Virgin (Ave gratia plena...),accompanied by engraved decoration and hand-painted initials
The medium exhibits the characteristics of a folio on vellum (parchment): a slightly stiff material, one side smoother than the other, and no visible watermarks visible through the paper.
This attribution is proposed subject to a physical examination of the item.
The work as a wholeis characteristic of the prestigious Parisian productions of the early 16th century, associated with the workshops of Philippe Pigouchet, Simon Vostre, or Thielman Kerver, though no definitive attribution has been made.
