A beautifully painted, 19th century, c1860, KPM topographical porcelain cup and saucer of the Neues Museum, Berlin.
Measurements:
Cup: Height (including handle): 10.8cm (4.3in)
Saucer: Diameter: 15.8cm (6.2in)
Marks: Sceptre mark and KPM orb to bases. Inscription “Das neue Museum in Berlin” to base of cup.
Condition: There is a small “fleabite” chip to the underside of the rim of the saucer and some very minor wear to gilding.
Note: The Neues Museum is situated on the Museum Island in the centre of Berlin, Germany. It was built in Neoclassical and Renaissance Revival styles from 1843 to 1855 by order of King Frederick William IV of Prussia and is considered the most significant work of the architect, Friedrich August Stüler.
