A Meissen porcelain yellow ground tea bowl and saucer with “purpurmalerei” decoration in panels of four harbour scenes/landscapes, circa 1740.
Maker’s marks: (cup and saucer) crossed swords marks in underglaze blue. Worker’s marks in black. Faintly impressed (Drehers?) marks on the inside of the footrims (clearer on the tea bowl)
Measurements:
Cup: Height: 4.5 cm (1.78 in). Diameter: 7.8 cm (3.1 in)
Saucer: Height 2.7 cm (1.1 in). Diameter: 13.2 cm (5.2 in)
Condition: Excellent. Near mint. No damage, minimal wear. One dark firing spot to the inside side of the saucer (see images). No restoration found under ultraviolet light.
