A 19th-century Meissen porcelain figure group of the inheritance hunter (Erbschleicher), circa 1870, after the model by Johann Joachim Kändler, c.1870s. An older lady sits before a chest of documents, her hand held by a much younger lover, standing, gazing down at the documents. A faun, disguised as cupid holds out two of the documents, on a naturalistic base with gilt edge
Marks: Underglaze blue crossed swords, incised model no. “A 46”, incised “51”, painted “46”, modelled with an old lady seated with a chest in her lap, her hand held by a younger lover standing and admiring an open chest full of bonds, a faun disguised as Cupid holding up an open and a rolled bond for inspection, on a naturalistic base with gilt edge.
