Young Gentleman With A Dog – Volkstedt Porcelain (attributed To Triebner, Ens & Eckert),

An elegant polychrome hard-paste porcelain figurine depicting a young gentleman in a Louis XV-style suit, seated on a flower-covered mound, holding a bouquet of flowers and accompanied by his dog.

This piece stands out for the finesse of its modeling, the quality of its entirely hand-painted finish, and the attention to every detail: a delicately rendered face, nuanced skin tones, applied flowers, and a particularly harmonious color palette.

The blue mark on the underside of the base most likely corresponds to the “crossed hayforks” mark of the Volkstedt (Thuringia) manufactory. All of these characteristics point to a probable attribution to Triebner, Ens & Eckert, circa 1880–1894.

The underside also bears the model number 172 engraved.

Condition: very good overall condition. The only flaw is a small chip on a phalanx of the little finger of the left hand. No visible restoration.

A charming collector’s figurine, representative of the finest works produced by the Volkstedt factory in the late 19th century, prized for the quality of its modeling, the delicacy of its polychromy, and the elegance of its Rococo-inspired subjects.
