Late 19th-century Vienna Style Porcelain Bowl
A good, large, late 19th century Vienna-style porcelain bowl, with everted lip and foot, richly decorated in gilded bands of dark and light green, white, and gold, interspersed with white jewelling, and a large central internal panel with a hand-painted classical scene after Angelica Kauffman, and two further smaller panels of classical scenes, each bearing an “Angelica Kauffman” signature. Faux Bindenschild mark and “25” to base.
Measurements:
Diameter: 30.5 cm (12 in)
Height: 11 cm (4.3 in)
Condition: Very good with the exception of a small uneven area on the underside of the lip, near which is a very faint 2.5 cm hairline, which appears to be in the glaze as it does not extend through to the upper surface of the lip. Under detailed examination with ultraviolet light, there was no flaring anywhere, leading us to conclude that the uneven area is original.
