Porcelain-columned Cage-style Pendulum Clock
Napoleon III-era column-framed pendulum clock. It rests on a rectangular base of veined green onyx, adorned with finely chiseled gilded bronze feet.
Its design is organized around four cylindrical columns, adorned with gilded bronze mounts. The porcelain column shafts feature painted decorations depicting figures in period costumes, accompanied by floral arrangements and landscapes. They are signed “Dumas.”
The central section consists of a glass case framed in gilded bronze, allowing a view of part of the mechanism.
The upper section extends from the green onyx base and forms an imposing overhanging cornice, supported by the four columns.
This clock is equipped with a round movement that strikes the hours and half-hours on a gong, using a rake-type striking mechanism. Blade suspension, Brocot-type escapement. Weekly winding. Beautiful gilded bronze dial composed of 12 enamel cartouches with Roman numerals for the hours. Steel “parsley” hands.
The mechanism has been serviced (disassembly, correction of wear-related clearances, cleaning, reassembly, oiling, and adjustment). Includes original key and balance wheel.
