French Clock In A Canton Famille Rose Porcelain Vase, Late 19th Century
French clock housed in a Canton famille rose porcelain case, decorated with court scenes alternating with floral and ornithological motifs, presumably produced in Canton in the second half of the nineteenth century. Following the French practice of the later nineteenth century, the porcelain is fitted with a French eight-day movement, with anchor escapement and hour-and-half-hour strike on a bell. The case comprises the vase, a lid with a winged finial, and a wooden base in the typical Oriental style.
Dimensions: 50 cm overall height x 20 cm diameter.
The case is in good condition, with light wear consistent with age; there is a single restoration on the lid, near the finial. The clock will be supplied serviced and in working order.
