Porcelain Clock With A Black Background - Restoration Period
A small porcelain clock with a black background, dating from the Restoration period. In the form of a mantelpiece, the decoration features shimmering colors, with multicolored birds surrounding the dial, highlighted by a garland of flowers. On either side, two large Athenian women are depicted with floral garlands, while two birds drink from them. The back repeats the motifs found on the other sides. The dial is painted directly onto the case, with gilt Roman numerals for the hours and railway tracks for the minutes. It has gilt brass Breguet-style hands. The clock houses a very small round Parisian movement with a striking bell on the hour and half-hour, mounted on a hood. It has a wire suspension. Note that the clock is wound from the back. The mechanism will be serviced before sale. It comes with a key and pendulum. The case is in very good condition, with a few small black chips on the upper part (see photo).
