Large Louis XV Style Gilt Bronze Wall Clock
A large Louis XV style gilt bronze cartel clock from the second third of the 19th century. The main body rests on a plinth echoing the principal motifs. In the center of the cabinet, beneath the dial, is a trophy adorned with a musical score, a lute, and a wind instrument. On the sides are floral motifs and pierced grilles draped with fabric. At the top of the composition is a putto with a lyre. This piece is comparable to the work of the renowned bronze-smiths Raingo Frères. The gilding is exquisite, with pronounced matte and burnished effects. The enamel dial features Roman numerals for the hours, Arabic numerals every five minutes, and a railway track for the minutes. The hands are Breguet-type steel. The clock is a round Parisian movement with a striking bell on the half-hours and snailed hands. It has a leaf spring suspension and has been serviced. The clock comes with its original key and pendulum. It is wound weekly. We are at your disposal for any request, please contact us by phone (06 01 49 14 24) or by email (remarot@gmail.com).
