Rest Stop For Hunters And Horsemen – Flemish Or Dutch School – 17th/18th Century
Oil on canvas depicting a lively scene of a return from a hunt or a rest stop for horsemen, in the tradition of 17th- and 18th-century Flemish and Dutch genre painting.
The composition centers on several horsemen and figures in period costumes, accompanied by their horses and a white greyhound in the foreground.
The rendering of the figures, the drapery, and the horses, as well as the liveliness of the scene, evoke the compositions of the Northern masters who specialized in equestrian and hunting scenes.
