Carved Walnut Bed In The Louis XV Style – 19th Century

A carved walnut bed in the Louis XV style, dating from the 19th century.

The tall headboard, with its flowing lines, is composed of moulded panels adorned with rocaille motifs, flowers and foliage. It is crowned at the centre by a cherub set within a rocaille cartouche.

The footboard features a more elaborate composition, centred on a trophy of Provençal agricultural implements, surrounded by flowering branches. The side panels continue the decoration with a play of curves and counter-curves.

The bed rests on cabriole legs and retains an even patina.
