Mahogany Handkerchief-shaped Game Table – Circa 1900
An elegant mahogany game table known as a “handkerchief” table, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Its square tabletop consists of four triangular panels connected by brass hinges. When unfolded, they reveal a playing surface lined with green felt, surrounded by four circular slots for chips or glasses.
When closed, the tabletop features a geometric pattern formed by the intersection of the four triangles.
The frame includes a drawer fitted with two brass handles decorated with oval medallions.
The base rests on four straight legs topped with metal casters, joined by a cross-shaped, scalloped crossbar.
