Decorative Wrought-iron Console Table With White Marble – First Half Of The 20th Century
A console table in wrought iron and worked metal, probably dating from the first half of the 20th century, with a white marble top veined with grey, featuring shaped and moulded edges.
The apron features an openwork frieze of interlacing loops.
The curved legs and scrollwork are decorated with acanthus leaves in cut and embossed sheet metal, together with rosettes. A lower stretcher with geometric motifs connects the legs and incorporates a central openwork ornament in the form of a basket.
Originally painted green, the metal structure was subsequently repainted white. It shows signs of age and use, including minor paint losses and areas of oxidation.
The marble top is in excellent condition.
Suitable for an entrance hall, conservatory or winter garden.
Construction and materials:
The substantial wrought iron frame is stable and solid, with no looseness in the structure.
The white marble top is of good thickness and rests securely on the frame. It is removable, making handling and transportation easier.
