Legras Enameled Glass Cookie Jar With Floral Design – Circa 1900
A very beautiful antique cookie jar, attributed to the François-Théodore Legras glassworks, from the Art Nouveau period, circa 1900.
The body, made of smoked gray satin-finished glass and slightly twisted, features an elegant polychrome enameled floral composition, adorned with large flowers in shades of pink and purple, soft green foliage, and delicate gold highlights.
It is adorned with a substantial, richly crafted silver-plated metal mount, decorated with relief scrollwork and foliage, featuring an elegant movable handle and a removable lid topped with an openwork knob.
Of particular note is the excellent condition of the mount: the metal alloy has retained all its luster, with no visible signs of oxidation or tarnish, unlike many biscuit buckets from this period.
A beautiful decorative object from the Belle Époque, combining the refinement of enameled glass with a particularly meticulous setting.
