Gallé Multi-layered Acid-etched Glass Nightlight – Japanese-style Landscape – Nancy School
A charming multi-layered glass nightlight by Gallé, adorned with a delicate acid-etched design depicting a lakeside landscape with tall trees in the Japanese style—an iconic theme in the work of Émile Gallé and the École de Nancy.
The design, created using acid-etched relief on an opaline background, reveals magnificent shades of amber and orange when lit, creating a particularly warm play of light. The openwork bronze upper frame is original, as are its vintage fabric-covered cord, Bakelite switch, and vintage plug; the entire unit is in working condition.
This nightlight is signed “Gallé” in an engraving on the underside of the base.
A refined, decorative piece representative of the craftsmanship of early 20th-century Nancy glassmaking.
