A Turquoise Blue Opaline Glass Footed Ewer, Murano, Circa 1890-1910

Artist: Murano

Footed ewer in turquoise blue opaline glass, with a flared, wavy neck and a pinched spout, the body and neck with molded twisted ribs, the applied handle in white opaline.
Italy, Murano. Late 19th – early 20th century (circa 1890–1910).
H_32 cm
Very good condition.

Frequently produced by Murano workshops as well as by Bohemian glassmakers in the late 19th century, classic-shaped ewers in tinted opaline enjoyed considerable success. The turquoise blue hue, combined with the milky transparency of opalescence and the movement of the twisted ribs, gives this ceremonial piece great visual elegance.

Our turquoise blue opaline ewer, part of the fine tradition of turn-of-the-century art glassware, testifies to the know-how of master glassmakers, combining the grace of its silhouette with the delicacy of its material.
