Pair of Chinese bronze Pixiu figures decorated with cloisonné enamel, with glass inlays and traces of gilding. China, late Qing Dynasty, circa 1880–1910. These two sculptures, each 49 cm long, form a set of mythical guardians, offered for sale as a pair.

The animals stand on all four legs, their mouths open, with distinct manes, winged forms, and raised, curved tails. In Chinese tradition, the Pixiu is associated with protection, prosperity, and wealth.

Their bronze bodies are adorned with floral and geometric designs in cloisonné enamel. The polychrome motifs follow the contours of the flanks and limbs, while metallic sections and traces of gilding add rhythm to the decoration. Glass inlays complete this finish. The combined weight of the two figures is 47.4 kg.

Condition: original patina, oxidation, wear, and crazing in certain areas of the enamel. Minor chips and signs of age are present. The general, side, and rear views allow one to appreciate the modeling and the condition of the surfaces.
