This work is attributed to Pierre-Charles Cior (1769–1840), a French portraitist and miniaturist who studied under Bauzil. He exhibited regularly at the Paris Salon between 1796 and 1838 and served, notably, as the court miniaturist to the King of Spain.

The signature in the lower left corner, when compared to other known works by the artist, as well as an old handwritten note on the reverse side summarizing his biography, provide evidence supporting this attribution.

Presented in its beautiful antique carved and gilded wooden frame, showing some signs of wear.

Some previous restorations.

The work was recently restored using a conservative approach by a professional studio.

In some places, faint traces of a former frame are visible around the edges of the composition; these do not affect the stability of the work or its presentation.

The canvas is mounted on its original stretcher. The piece as a whole is currently in excellent condition. A few subtle signs of age, consistent with its antiquity, remain naturally.
