Oil on panel signed "Genette" lower right [and dated], by Marcel Gabriel Genette (born 1889). The work depicts a view of Entrevaux (Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, France): the village with its tall houses rising above the deep-cut river, cypresses punctuating the terraced fields, beneath arid hills bathed in southern light. A solid, luminous composition with constructed brushwork, characteristic of the artist's southern landscapes.
