Louis Rheiner (1863-1924) Geneva Painter - Impressionist Musseum Genève Et De Lausanne.
Oil on canvas signed lower right, by Louis Rheiner (1863-1924), depicting a hamlet nestled in a valley: an old farmhouse with a wooden lean-to overlooking a path, huddled rooftops below, and bare trees set against a luminous sky painted in divided touches. A sensitive, atmospheric composition with vibrant handling, characteristic of the artist's Impressionist manner.
Dimensions: 50 × 58 cm
Louis Rheiner (Geneva, 1863 – Cannes, 1924) was a Swiss painter, regarded as one of the artists who introduced Impressionism to Geneva. Trained at the Geneva School of Fine Arts, then in Paris and Nice (under the engraver Marcellin Desboutin), he devoted himself to landscape, portraiture and still life. In 1891, several of his studies accompanied Ferdinand Hodler's The Night at the exhibition devoted to that artist. His works are held in the museums of Geneva and Lausanne.
