Oil on canvas, signed and dated "Germaine Decot 1935" lower right. A half-length portrait of an elegant woman in the Art Deco taste of the 1930s: softly waved blonde hair, pale complexion, lips and nails accented in vivid red, wearing a sea-green blouse with supple folds, one hand raised to her chest. A work of characteristic interwar charm, its gentle palette set off by touches of red.

Germaine Decot (born 26 July 1912 in Algiers) was a 20th-century French painter. She trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Algiers, then at the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where her teachers included Othon Friesz and André Lhote. She exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants from 1930, as well as at the Salon d'Automne, and was invited to show at the Salon des Tuileries.
