This work represents the Château de Gros Bois, a heritage site, located in Boissy-Saint-Léger. We can see the main facade of the building and the wooded parts of the property. Trees devoid of any leaves seem to have frozen under a winter sky full of clouds.
This historic estate, which has now become a horse racing center, was built in 1597. It was bought in 1616 by the Duke of Angoulême who gave it its current appearance.
This canvas, selected for the Île-de-France prize in 1955, is nicely highlighted by a beige and gold colored wooden frame.
Faithfully reproduced, this painting will appeal to art lovers for the sobriety and the colors chosen by the artist
