An antique and authenticmedical urinal made of glazed porcelain, adorned with decorative motifs inunderglaze cobalt blue. Large peonies (flowers symbolizing wealth)appear alongside stylized *lingzhi* mushrooms (symbols of longevity) near the opening,all embellished with scrollwork and other ornamental motifs.
The piece featuressloping sides, an upper handle, and a square opening. Its shapemay have been inspired by an original metal model.
Made in thehistoric kilns of Jingdezhen, in Jiangxi Province (southeasternChina)—a city that has been the center of Chinese porcelain productionsince the 12th century.
The object bears awax seal as well as a certificate of authenticity, having been acquired in Chinafrom the Guangdong (Canton) General Store of Cultural Relics.
