Greek Corinthian Lebes Gamikos Vessel

Provenance: Corinth, Greece
Era: 4th century BC
Dimensions: 11.4 cm (H) x 10.2 cm (Ø)

An exceptionally shaped ancient Corinthian vase of the Lebes Gamikos type, dating from the 4th century BC.C. This remarkable vase, typical of Lebes Gamikos vases, was used for ceremonies such as weddings, although its exact function remains uncertain - probably to sprinkle the bride with water before the ceremony. Featuring two glazed handles, a bulbous body and a wide opening with a worked rim, this vase is both original and beautiful. It bears the fingerprints of its creator, dating back over 2,400 years, testifying to its humanity. In perfect condition. An ideal piece for decoration or as a vase for dried flowers.
