Origin: Greece Period: 7th-6th century B.C. Dimensions : 12.7 cm (H) x 15.2 cm (Ø)
A magnificent Corinthian skyphos, dating from the 7th-6th century B.C. This vase features a deep bowl shape, with two horizontal loop handles. Black banded decoration adorns the upper part. Skyphos were vases used to hold wine at banquets or festivals, known as symposia. This simple but beautiful example of ancient Corinthian ceramics bears witness to the influence of oriental trade. An old crack and repair are present, but the vase is solid and intact.
