Etruscan Funerary Urn In Polychrome Terracotta Representing The Goddess Fortuna
A strikingly beautiful Etruscan cinerary urn depicting Fortuna, goddess of fertility, abundance, destiny, and chance, above a funeral procession of ten figures. Made of solid terracotta, it is decorated with ancient polychromy, now heavily faded. This example is remarkably fine, revealing magnificent details. The veil and fabrics draping Fortuna ripple with striking movement, while she carries a cornucopia and a mirror. A very heavy piece, made of exceptionally massive terracotta.
