Stained Glass Cartoon From Powell & Sons Depicting The Instruments Of The Passion

Made by James Powell & Sons of the Whitefriars glassworks in the mid-to-late 19th century, circa 1870-1880. By the 1880s, Powell & Sons was a fixture in the Morris & Co. showroom, working closely with William Morris on his glass designs. This working carton is a fine, relatively rare example, as they were often destroyed once the showcase was complete.
