"14th-century Maltese Cross And Stone Baphomet Head On A Base"
A 14th-century Portuguese stone head, adorned with fascinating carvings. Its eyes, decorated with Maltese crosses, the emblem of the Knights Templar, are carved in the center, while the face, nose, and mouth present a rudimentary representation of Baphomet. During the Inquisition, the Knights Templar were accused of venerating Baphomet, an accusation intended to discredit the order. Many of them confessed, under duress and torture, to worshipping Baphomet; confessions extracted through suffering, for lack of irrefutable proof. While the modern image of Baphomet evokes occult traditions, many scholars see it as a symbol of the balance between good and evil, as well as a symbol of wisdom. Presented on a contemporary metal base.
