Kawari Kabuto - Samurai Helmet
Made of black lacquered iron with several welded plates, it resembles a monk's headdress. The front of the mabezashi is adorned with eyebrows in slight relief. The shikoro has 5 lacquered blades, laced with blue sugake-odoshi and lacquered red on the inside. On the back, 2 large winglets. The maedate features a high-horned shikami or oni demon in gilded wood with red lacquer highlights. The eyes, very present, are inlaid with sulfide. A few small cracks and wears of lacquer due to age do not detract from the high quality and rarity of this helmet.
