Decorated with open fans featuring iris flowers, bamboo, and cherry blossoms in gold and silver lacquer using the taka maki-e and kirikane techniques. The interior is finished in nashiji lacquer and bears the kao of Hisada Soya (Jingyusai) (1925–2010), the 12th tea master of the Hisada family of the Omotsenke school; the fukusa bears the Issai seal.
The storage box (tomobako) bears the inscription “O-natsume” a fan motif, signed “Issai zo,” and a seal.
