The sovereign, first of the House of Bourbon, is shown with structured shoulders shoulders and a pleated burr, elements perfectly in keeping with the fashion between the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He wears a necklace necklace, probably that of the Order of the Holy Spirit, founded in 1578 by Henri III and reserved for the highest nobility of the kingdom.
