Empire Armchair In Carved Mahogany, Scroll Armrests, Italy Early 19th Century
Elegant Empire period armchair, made in Italy in the early 19th century, crafted in solid and veneered mahogany. The structure stands out for its harmonious proportions and refined carving, particularly visible in the scroll-shaped armrests adorned with stylized leaf motifs, adding movement and decorative richness. While maintaining the typical restraint of the Empire style, these elements already suggest an evolution towards the Charles X period. The straight backrest is enhanced by a refined openwork central splat with opposing curved motifs, giving lightness and elegance to the overall design. The front legs are slightly curved in a sabre shape and taper down gracefully, while the rear legs remain more linear and understated. The seat has been recently restored and newly upholstered using traditional spring techniques, ensuring both comfort and durability. The blue fabric with small gold motifs enhances the warm tone of the mahogany.Condition: very good condition. Professionally restored in full respect of the original structure.MEASUREMENTSWidth: 57 cmDepth: 47 cmHeight: 90 cmSeat height: 52 cmFor further information, photos or technical details, please feel free to contact us.
